Eleanor “Betty” Culp, 98, a resident of Garvey Manor, died, Thursday, July 15, 2010 at the manor.  She was born December 25, 1911 in London, Ontario, the daughter of the late Guy Carlton and Hannah (Ortbern) Hassell.  Betty married Howard David Culp in 1933 in Altoona, PA.  He preceded her in death in 1994.  She was a member of Fairview United Methodist Church.  Betty worked as a secretary for her husband who worked for the government.  She enjoyed traveling and needlework.   Friends will be received from 10:00am to the 11:00am service on Tuesday, July 20, 2010 at E. Merrill Smith Funeral Home, Inc., 2309 Broad Avenue, Altoona, PA, 16601, with Rev. Arthur Shotts officiating.  Friends may express condolences at www.smithfuneralcenter.com

Reading Mrs Culp's obituary, I believe she was the very pleasant & kind person who lived in the same apt building (approx 1986). I had a teenage son & she always told me how she enjoyed watching him grow up living in the same bldg.I often wondered where she was living & now I read her obituary. There should be more people like this lovely lady who I feel fortunate that our paths crossed briefly.
